Eid Fitri Celebration

 EID FITRI CELEBRATION 

Eid fitri this year falls on the 6th July 2016, Syawal the 1st 1437H Aidil Fitri means that the muslims have completed one month fasting in the month of Ramadhan.

The muslims celebrate Aidil Fitri in many ways in this country and so does  my family. 

The last night of Ramadhan, we have started the Takbir in our solat terawih.

"Allah hu akbar Allah hu akbar" have been in the air of all mosque, electronic media - Radio, Television, and houses.

We went back to Kampung Parit Mahang, Jeram, my father's hometown a day before syawal. On the way back we bought some food to be cooked for breakfasting that evening.

That night, after completing our meals we started help our aunties tidying up the house.

Many things suppose to be done by that night - filling in the raya cookies container, cooking Rendang and Nasi Impit, Ketupat, Sambal Kerang. 

A few of us taking the job of hanging up the curtain, replace the cushion with new ones and other things.

Meanwhile, the men are taking task outside of the house busying themselves boiling ketupat, stirring Dodol, and burning Lemang. The teenagers and childrens are with the firecrackers.

Usually on the raya eve, we do not sleep early. Everything end up at 1 or 2 am.

The next morning, we are heading to the mosque for solat sunat aidilfitri. After ayah came back from the mosque, each each families getting ready for salam salaman agenda. At this moment we express our forgiveness from parents, sibling, uncle, aunties and cousin around.

 The parent will distribute 'duit raya' to those nephews and nieces.

The fathers will chit chat with their childhood friends, while the mothers gossiping and sharing new things. In the corner of the house, teenagers group won't miss their korean dramas.

It is indeed Aidil Fitri is an important event for the muslims. Cause this is the day that we forgive and forget all the hatred and mistakes done.

The first day of eid fitri every year is a sweet memory for us cause sometimes we might only met the person once a year.
